What is the Financial Ombudsman Service?

The Financial Ombudsman Service was set up by Parliament to resolve complaints between financial businesses and their customers.

The FOS can help with most financial services, including banking, insurance, PPI, loans, mortgages, pensions and investments.

Insurance Claim Disputes

If a customer has a problem with their insurance company and can’t resolve the complaint themselves, the FOS can provide an unbiased view of the dispute. If they decide that someone has been treated unfairly, they have legal powers to resolve the insurance claim dispute.

So why do you need us?

Because your success with the Financial Ombudsman Service depends upon:

  1. Your presentation of your insurance claim dispute case
  2. Your appreciation of the financial and legal limitations of the FOS
  3. The implications of a refusal from the Financial Ombudsman to back your insurance claim dispute
  4. Knowing when and why to accept a Financial Ombudsman’s Award, or reject it
  5. And what to do next.
  • There are occasions when the Financial Ombudsman’s Awards is not in your best interests
  • There can be legal implications to you accepting an Award and continuing to recover more.
  • There are implications for your future insurances after an FOS award or rejection.
